Founded in 1983, the City of Holdfast Bay Concert Band is one of South Australia's premier community concert bands. We are dedicated to providing musicians of all ages with a friendly and enthusiastic environment to express their creativity.
These, which were always held on Friday evenings, were first held in the dining hall at the Brighton Town Hall and later, at Hamilton College. Rehearsals are now held in the Music Centre at Lipson Street, Seacliff on a Thursday evening. The main rehearsal room was named the Robin Kidney Room in recognition of his role in negotiations with the council to secure the building.
In February 2013, The City of Holdfast Bay Concert Band started up a second band. This band is for people of all ages who are learning to play a new instrument or simply just want to develop their skills on their chosen instrument. The first MD was Trevor Raymond who worked at encouraging new players to try the band. Several members of the Concert Band assisted as mentors. He was succeeded by Scott Gunn in 2014.
