As a notice to band members, Holdfast2 rehearsals are starting back up again this Thursday the 2nd of February, welcoming their new MD Henry South. Holdfast Bay Concert Band rehearsals have already commenced and will be held again this Thursday.
On Wednesday the 28th of December we had the great honour of performing at the annual Proclamation Day ceremony at the Old Gum Tree Reserve in Glenelg. As the 180th anniversary it was a particularly important event, and attendees of the ceremony included His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AO, Governor of South Australia; Mr Stephen Patterson, His Worship the Major of the City Of Holdfast Bay; and Jay Weatherill, MP, Premier of South Australia.
The formalities were followed by a free barbecue and chances for photos in front of the Old Gum Tree. As always, it was an honour playing at this prestigious event commemorating our state's history.
On the 15th of December we had the delight of performing at the annual Whitmore Square carols in the city. It was a beautiful event with an excellent turnout, and we would like to thank Baptist Care for hosting the event and making it such a success.
We are proud to announce that we won first place in the Open C Grade Category at this years State Band Championships, held the past weekend (August 27th & 28th) at Immanuel College.
It was a close competition with Trinity College following in second place and the Playford Concert Band taking out third. Congratulations to our amazing players for their effort in winning first place, and to all other musicians who took part in the championships.
The 2016 AGM was held on August 11th. Aside from several new members joining the Band Committee, congratulations must be given to the following members:

The South Australian Band Association held the 2016 National Championships on the Easter weekend (25 - 28 March) at Trinity College, Gawler.
Holdfast Bay Concert Band came first in the C Grade category.

Also congratulations to Maria Foot who won first place in the solo Open Flute section, winning with a total of 95 points.
In 2012/13 the Holdfast Bay Community Grants program provided 50% funding to the Holdfast Bay Concert Band which supported the purchase of the new jackets for the band. The jackets are in our bright red and made to fit individual members.
